The History of The Nobis Foundation

The Nobis Foundation is a non-profit organization whose aim is to connect donors and funding with various types of humanitarian projects throughout Latin America and Florida. The foundation is affiliated with Fundación Nobis, the acting philanthropic arm of Consorcio Nobis, one of Ecuador’s leading business conglomerates founded by Isabel Noboa after her father Luis Noboa Naranjos, the largest private banana exporter in the world, passed away.

Founded in 1998, Consorcio Nobis now employs more than 6,000 people and has contributed to the employment of an additional 18,000 more in Ecuador. Its founder Isabel Noboa, just like her father, believes strongly in giving back to the Ecuadorian people and the community, so she founded Fundación Nobis to achieve her philanthropic aims. Luis Noboa’s values have been passed on to his daughter Isabel, and to her son, Isidro, who remain committed to upholding their time-honored and cherished values through Fundación Nobis.

Fundación Nobis has been in operation in Ecuador since 1997. Using their affiliation with Consorcio Nobis, the philanthropy has leveraged its connections to undertake development projects in six provinces throughout Ecuador. As a result, more than 100,000 people each year benefit from one of their programs, all of which exemplify their commitment to social responsibility. The Foundation focuses its efforts on a wide variety of issues, including numerous health initiatives, education, housing, youth entrepreneurship, community and local development, child development and welfare, and much, much more.

The charity has also implemented several programs for its Inter-American Foundation, which provides grants to companies who promise to build in indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian communities to help boost their local economy, and also promotes eco-friendly projects throughout the country.

Fundación Nobis remains committed to providing relief, assistance and opportunities to the underprivileged, and to those endangered by natural disasters, including Ecuador’s most recent tragedy on April 16, the 7.2-magnitude earthquake.
