The Nobis Foundation and Ecuador Relief Efforts

Over the weekend, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed hundreds and injured thousands along the Pacific coast of Ecuador – the deadliest quake to hit the nation, killing over 655 people and injuring over 16,000.

According to statistics provided by Ecuador’s Risk Management Office, over 29,000 people remain in shelters and 1,200 buildings destroyed near the coastal towns of Marta, Protoviejo and Pedernalesthe coastal towns of Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales, where the quake hit the hardest. Both the immediate and long-terms effects of the earthquake will take significant time and effort to rebuild.

With the death toll rising and damaged roadways blocking rescue efforts, Ecuador is in need of help to provide relief in the aftermath of this tragedy.
