Over the weekend, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed hundreds and injured thousands along the Pacific coast of Ecuador – the deadliest quake to hit the nation, killing over 655 people and injuring over 16,000.
According to statistics provided by Ecuador’s Risk Management Office, over 29,000 people remain in shelters and 1,200 buildings destroyed near the coastal towns of Marta, Protoviejo and Pedernalesthe coastal towns of Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales, where the quake hit the hardest. Both the immediate and long-terms effects of the earthquake will take significant time and effort to rebuild.
With the death toll rising and damaged roadways blocking rescue efforts, Ecuador is in need of help to provide relief in the aftermath of this tragedy.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION CORPORATION
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Alliance of Ecuador is a network of public, private and academic organizations which fosters economic development in the country. In the wake of the crisis that Ecuador is facing, the Alliance has created an Economic Recovery Fund that will provide financial means and support to enterprises and entrepreneurs that have been affected by the earthquake.
The Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI) is a network of public, private and academic institutions, which foster the development of the country through private sector development and promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation.
As part of The Nobis Foundation’s commitment to help those affected by natural disasters, The Nobis Foundation will be taking both monetary donations and donations of needed items. Donations made now through the end of the month will be used to help provide aid for survivors and their families.
